Makeup Finds

Hello friends!

I thought I might share with you all about a few makeup finds I came across yesterday.

You can check out my little video here!

(Wow, I look a tad scary)
(By the way, in the video when I talk about using Estee Lauder mascara, I meant to say Lancome. BRAIN FART!)

Anywho, I told you in the video I would post a before and after picture...(by the way this is taking a lot for me to do!!)

Sorry. Sometimes I like being a little girly.

Wait, I AM a girl.

So, it's my prerogative.

Much love. :)

Oh Baxter.

Hello friends.

This is Baxter.

He is the man's and my little one. We've had him for almost 6 years.

We've had our ups...

We've had our downs...

I would say that for most of his life he has slept on the couch at night.
(and well anytime he pleases.)
Underneath whatever blanket may be on the couch.

Brad and I, on the whole, never let him sleep with us because we didn't want to start the trend of him wanting to sleep with us at night.

Every now and again, though, one of us would feel our heartstrings being tugged at every time we'd kick him out of the bed.

Soooooo....needless to say, he's had a few more nights in the bed with us.

While that seems to be working out great for him, it is not for us.

Here a few of the grievances we are experiencing:

1. I am sweating beyond belief. Wait, did I put a Thermacare wrap around my ankles before I came to bed? Oh no, it's just Baxter.
2. He has to be touching me at all times. I scoot, he scoots. He's little, but he's like a tickling maniac.
3. He knows the perfect time to want to go outside...3 am. 5am. 6:30 am.
4. He likes to jump off the bed and make lots of noise. And sometimes if I'm lucky, he'll lick me on the face before he jumps off the bed, to wake me up out of a dead sleep. For no reason...just to make noise.
4. Whine. Whine. But he's okay. I think he just likes to do it. Whine. Baxter: "I'm at the door. Let me in to the bedroom. Whine."

I know I know, he's a dog. And we absolutely love him. But #3 on the list is driving us nuts. We are not getting restful sleep at all. AT ALL.

Does anyone have any advice on how to keep him out of our bedroom without whining at the door?

Much love. :)

7 years

Today is a special day for the man and me.

7 years ago on this day he (FINALLY!) asked me to be his girlfriend.

I can remember the excitement I felt because (finally) the guy who had been giving me butterflies for 7 months had finally asked me to make it official.

It was also really special because I had never had a boyfriend before. Yep. I was 20 years old and had never had a boyfriend.

So there you have it...Brad was my very first boyfriend.

Oh don't get me wrong. I had crushes in my lifetime...major crushes...that were all major....fails.

I was definitely that girl throughout my life that was every one's friend.
You know how there's always the leading lady and then the actress that plays the leading lady's best friend? She's usually really nice, funny, and well...just never quite as good as the leading lady?
Well, that's the way I felt growing up.
Always the supporting role...never the leading lady.

Brad made me feel like the leading lady for the first time in my own life.

And isn't that how it's supposed to be?

When you look at that special someone in your life, are they making you feel like the leading lady or the second fiddle?

I sure hope all ladies out there feel like leading ones. Because deep down, we all deserve the starring role.

Fittingly, our first date was to a wedding. Of which, I was a bridal party member. To one of the guys I was always a supporting lady to.

Looking back on it now, it was pretty sweet of Brad to agree to come to a wedding where he knew NO ONE.

And I felt like a million bucks walking in on his arm.

Almost seven years later, I walked out of another wedding on his arm. As his wife. And leading lady.

Seems quite fitting... :)

Thanks honey for asking me 7 years ago to take a chance.
(First date pic)

Thanks for asking me almost 2 years ago on your knee to take another big chance.
(Engagement moment)

And thank you for taking the chance (2 months and 1 day ago) to take on the biggest challenge we've faced so far.
(Wedding day)

Chances have gotten me far in life. I think I'm up for a few more.

Don't ever let someone ever make you feel less than a leading lady (or leading man). Take a few chances.

You'll end up with sweet surprises.

Much love. :)

Tokyo Grill

OMGeeeeee. Let me tell you guys about this sweet gem in East Memphis: TOKYO GRILL!

You guys can check out the menu here.

It's in the old Asian Palace location. (Which, if you ever went into that location, you know what I mean when I say it was sort of questionable. The food was just had to turn a blind eye to the surroundings...specifically the kitchen. Yikes.)

However, the inside of the building has been completely redone. It's nothing fancy, by any means. Buuutttt, it's cute. And quaint.

The man and I headed over there this afternoon for our second trip there. I think we are going to make it our Thursday-night-before-bowling-meal. And let me explain why:

We both ordered the two roll and miso soup combination. However, we left the soup off (this due to the fact that one of the air units is it was a little warm in there...they offered us a salad, but we declined that, too). We opted to get an order of the vegetable fried rice, instead. (Yes. Don't judge. Carb overload.)

I'm not sure if you can understand the massive amount of food one gets here. I mean, just take a look at those pictures again...

If you love sushi like the man and I do, then you know how expensive it is. I mean, going to Bluefin downtown or Pacific Rim in East Memphis will about break the bank.

We got all that food (and opted out of the soup that's supposed to come with it) for....

If you were keeping score then that was 4 sushi rolls (what would have been 2 large cups of miso soup) and an order of vegetable fried rice for $23.30.

The people there are really friendly. You have the option of take-out or dining in. Hopefully, the air will be fixed soon (the gentleman assured us that the guy was coming tomorrow to fix it).

Thumbs up! Go check it out!

Much love. :)

New favorite LBD (little black dress):

I found this LBD on our honeymoon at the outlet mall in Foley, AL. After trying it on, Brad pretty much demanded that I get it.

And who am I to argue with a man about whether or not to buy a dress?

I find it to be a little Audrey Hepburn-ish, no?

I wore this to a wedding this past weekend. Feeling in the wedding mood, I paired it with the polka-dotted shoes I wore on my wedding day.

I hope to get many more wears out of this LBD...I make it my mission to buy things that I know will last a while and will get many miles logged.

Now, if I could just find a hat to compete with this one....
Isn't she just the living end?

Much love. :)

Current Girl Crush

Kate Middleton =  PERFECTION.

Much love.

Five Guys

So, I don't know about all you other couples out there, but one debate that comes up almost every day is "What do you want to eat?"

Nearly every time, it results in a 30 minute ping pong game back and forth between the man and I....

"I don't care." "Well, I don't care either." "But, no, where do you want to go?" "I want to go wherever you want to go."

And on and on..
So on...
And so forth.

So, today, I took the bull by the horns and I decided that I would make a definite choice. I had read last night on another blog about the new Five Guys that has opened over at Ridgeway and Primacy Parkway. I believe they now occupy the old Crescent City space. Anywho, from what I read I had to check out the menu online.

Well, needless to say, I realized very quickly this place was not very, um, 5k training friendly. Yikes.

I am weak. Weak to the powers of the idea of fries cooked in peanut I made the executive decision that the man and I would make it our lunch destination.

The restaurant is very simply decorated. Red & white color scheme. And nothing fancy at all. So, don't expect a feast for the eyes.

A feast for the cheeseburger/fry that it is.

When we got there, I fully expected to have to wait a good long minute for our food. However, the line moved quickly, considering we got there at noon, and the line was really long. PLUS....we got our food within 10 minutes. Score!

Everything was yum-o. But here are some heads-up if you decide to tackle Five Guys...
1. The Cajun fries are spicy. You are warned.
2. Unless you want fries for days, get a regular. And if you are smart, split it with someone. They serve an ungodly amount of fries here.
3. The burgers are big. I'll get a Jr. burger the next time I go. But, hey, if you are feeling adventurous (and also like upsetting your family practitioner), then go ahead and go for the regular burger.

Ultimately, the man and I decided that Five Guys is the perfect destination for the day after a long night of debauchery.

Definitely indulge yourself and check them out! They've won all kinds of listed on their cups.

Now, I'm off to go burn of the 191812872920293838 calories consumed from lunch. ;)

Much love.

Hello All!

Why hello there!

Thank you for making it over to my humble little blog. :) I've tried doing this before...but I thought that I'd start new and fresh, since I am starting my life new and fresh as a newlywed!

Feel free to follow along on my journey as I try to keep up with this crazy little thing we like to call...wait for it...

Much love.
