SAG Award Fashion Favs....

Hi friends!

Did any of you catch the SAG Awards last night?

Noooooooo?

Me either!

Haha.

I did, (as I did with the Globes) watch the red carpet.

 Look now.

I AM going to watch the Oscars.

And I like to watch the Emmys.

So, don't judge.

(I would have watched all of the Globes. But, there was a reason why I couldn't. I just can't remember now. Stupid short term memory loss.)

Here are some of my fav looks from the night...in no particular order...because I am feeling lazy today.

Jane Lynch. I love this blue. Love it. And I love the pockets.

Chick from The Office. I think she's channeling Old Hollywood glamour here.

Sofia Vergara. I mean c'mon. Va Va Voom!! And I love this raspberry color on her.

Kyra Sedgewick. Look at her body in this dress. Amazing.

Octavia Spencer does it again. She looks amazing. Just as she did at the Globes.

I believe this young lady is from Modern Family. How lovely is this cocktail dress? So age appropriate and pretty.

Chick from The Office and Bridesmaids. This color is to die for. Especially with her hair.

Okay Okay. I sort of have a top 6.

Naya Rivera. Stunning. Loved this dress. Best Glee dress of the night in my opinion. Don't shoot me Lea Michelle lovers.

Emily Blunt. Lord have mercy. The color of this dress is so amazing. And so fresh especially for Spring. It just popped so well on the carpet.

Viola Davis. DOES IT AGAIN! So stunning at the Globes. Even more stunning at the SAG Awards. Love it.

Stacy Kiebler. Love it. Love it all. Love the lace. Love the off the shoulder look. Love the accessory on her arm, too....

My top 2. AGHHH! This was a hard choice. I mean I lovvvveed both of these looks.

Rose Byrne.

Rose's look is getting mixed reviews. But I love the jump suit. It's such a departure from all of the gowns. It's exquisitely beaded and looked beautiful on the carpet. I loved it. I wish I could pull that off! I'm not crazy about the hair...but if she had done something super pretty, it might have made the jumpsuit look..I dunno...a little bridal in my opinion. Way to take a chance! Love it.

AND NOW FOR MY FAVORITE DRESS/LOOK OF THE NIGHT!!!

Jayma Mays from Glee

I. LOVE. THIS. DRESS.

Okay, I know it's been done before.

Whatev.

I still love it.

The sparkles.

The sleeves.

Love.

And her overall look just balanced out perfectly.

So glam.

What were some of your favorites friends?

Remember: we can agree to disagree.

Much love ;)

Won't You Be My Valentine?

Hi friends!

Happy Friday!!

I hope all is well in your world.

Thank you friends for all the sweet texts I got in regards to my weigh-in meltdown.

You guys definitely made me smile and help put things into perspective.

You guys rock!

Thank you again.

Confession time.

I have have a secret love.

(Shhhhh...don't tell the hubs.)

I am in love with cocktail dresses.

SHOCKING!

Well, not really. At least not for me

I love getting dressed up.

There's something about slipping on a great cocktail dress that really makes me feel good.

Now, I am not asking the hubs to take me anywhere for the corporate-driven holiday that is Valentine's Day.

I am serious.

I would love a cuddly night at home just as much as a night out on the town.

But, here are a few of my favorite picks for a Valentine's Day night out...

(Warning: these are all for girls with a little more junk in the trunk...but feel free to head over to the whole website because they have all sizes!!)

I am in love with lace right now.

More lace. And in pink. Sweet.

Um, hello??? Pink polka dots!!

More lace detail.

I like the one-shoulder detail on the above dress. And the color seems appropriate for V-Day.

Okay, so this last one really isn't Valentine's Day-ish....but it I just love it. So, therefore, I included it. :)

I need this dress.

I just love the ASOS website. They have some really great options for us curvy ladies!

Check them out if you are looking for something new with pizzazz!

Speaking of pizzazz...

I bit the bullet today and got my hair colored.

It was looking a-mess.

Scratch that.

It was looking a hot-mess.

I had grey hairs out the wa-zoo (thanks for those genetics mom).

And it just needed some improvement.

Last week, I tried out a new (well, new to me) salon here in East Memphis: Capelli.

I went there to get my hair styled for my birthday.

Okay look.

I am a complete goob when it comes to doing my own hair.

I can basically work a flat iron...and put gel in my hair and scrunch it when I get out of the shower.

That's it.

I can't roll it myself.

And, I usually obtain some sort of 2nd degree burn when I use a curling iron.

So, yea, I've just learned that if I want any sort of style, I go to a professional.

Well, Allyson at Capelli did such a wonderful job for my birthday, (and since she put the bug in my ear as I was leaving to schedule a coloring), I went back today to let her handle my color!

Before:

Hotmessness.

After:

RED HEAD!!!

Trying to work my camera phone. I look like a tard.

I just love it.

I am digging the red!

I've been red before, but she really made it look great.

Annnnnnnd she also made my hair look healthy by getting all those dead ends off.

It feels wonderful.

So, go see Allyson and all the wonderful gang at Capelli.

They will treat you right.

(Heads up: I did pay a little more than I normally would. Ok, maybe a lot more. But, I love it. It was worth every penny!!)

My new red hair makes me smile on the inside.

Do something this weekend that makes you smile on the inside, too,  friends!

Much love, ;)

Judgement Day....Round 3

Hi friends!

How are you today?

Me? (If you are asking...)

Eh.

Explanation to follow.

First of all...it's raining cats and dogs here in Memphis, Tennessee today.

Yuck.

And I just realized I left my raincoat in the car.

Fail.

Does me no good there.

Another yuck?

I forgot to weigh in yesterday morning.

So, I weighed in yesterday afternoon.

Bad idea.

So, I decided that because the number on the scale could not possibly be right....to weigh myself this morning.

Bright and early.

So, at 7:30 a.m. I stepped on the scale.

Same results.

AWHA?!

Tears began to well up in my eyes.

I stepped back on the scale.

Unfortunately, the numbers didn't change.

So, friends, in the interest of being honest...

I am telling you all that I gained 1.4 pounds this week.

Ugh.

I could blame it on my birthday.

But honestly, I only strayed off one day.

So, I attribute it to alcohol intake.

Now, before you all get in a tizzy and threaten to call Bro. Terry and Ruth Ann...

Or stage an intervention....

No, I don't have an alcohol problem.

I just had my birthday people.

However, that really doesn't make me feel better, nor is it an excuse.

I even kept up with my half-marathon training.

And managed to stay within my points range.

So, I don't understand.

In turn, I shed a few tears...said a few cuss words...

And am now just pressing forward on my journey.

The WW website said that gaining is a part of the journey every now and then...and pretty much not to stress out about it.

That's easy for them to say.

They didn't just put in all that hard work this past week.

But, I'm just going to take this as a learning experience and move on.

However, if the scale next week either creeps up...or doesn't move at all....

That intervention might be necessary.

I'm just saying.

Much love, ;)

Putting Things Away....

Hi friends!

How are you?

I hope well.

I am a little embarrassed to admit the following:

I have yet to get my wedding dress cleaned.

It's hung in our office (in the bag at least!!) now since May.

Yikes.

I know.

Terrible.

Today, I finally took the steps needed to get my gown cleaned.

It's going to go into a preservation chest as part of the process, also.

Honestly, it makes me a little sad.

It's funny though.

I never imagined myself as one of those ladies super attached to her wedding gown.

And now I am.

I didn't have that "THIS IS THE ONE! (AND NOW TEARS ARE STREAMING DOWN MY FACE)" moment at the dress store.

In fact, I had another dress that was a serious contender.

So, I went back and forth for at least a week between the two dresses.

So, today, I thought I'd share with you the other contender that almost had my heart.

August 30, 2010. Don't ask me how I remembered the date. I just do! And yes, this was before I got my new  pearly whites.

Please keep all "back fat" comments to yourselves please.

This was my favorite part of the dress!

Gosh.

It sure was pretty. And it made me look...dare I say...um...somewhat little?

When I put it on, I said, "Wow. I really feel like a bride in this one."

So, why did I choose the other??

Well, while that one made me feel like a bride, the dress I ultimately chose felt more like ME. When I put it on, I said "Ohhhh. I love this one. This is so pretty."

It had pockets.

It had a belt with beautiful beading.

It had a sweetheart neckline.

It was 100 pounds lighter than the other dress.

It was simple.

And I just LOVED it.

Period.

Honestly, everyone else loved the dress I didn't choose more than the one I did.

My best friend Stephanie was the only other person to side with me in choosing the dress I chose. She knew from the get-go that it was my dress.

(Thanks Steph!!)

I don't regret my dress choice one bit.

It was light. It was $400 cheaper than the one I didn't choose. It was beautiful.

AND it was me.

I wanted a dress that was classic, a little retro/vintage looking, and would leave the door open for my daughter (if that is in the cards) to wear one day if she wants.

I think I achieved that with my choice.

So to all the future brides out there dress hunting...trust your gut.

Don't let others sway you.

Stay true to yourself.

I promise, you'll thank yourself later.

I will miss you dearly sweet dress.

You served me very well.

Much love, ;)

Oh me...Oh my...Turning The Big 28.....

Well folks...

Today is the day.

I am officially 28 years old.

I know I know.

I'm in no way old.

And honestly...I feel very blessed this birthday.

I have a had a wonderful weekend with some wonderful people.

Had some great food.

And made some great memories.

Like I said, I am a blessed gal.

And turning 28 doesn't bother me.

Of course, it's just one step closer to 30.

But who cares?

(Please remind me of the aforementioned statement when the time does roll around for my 30th birthday and I'm spazzing out.)

I feel lucky to be alive.

I feel lucky to have the most amazing husband on the planet.

I feel lucky to have some of the most amazing friends.

I feel lucky to have the most amazing family a girl could ask for.

I know. I know. "Could you please stop talking about how awesome your life is??"

Okay, I get that.

But I just want everyone to know who is in one of the groups above to know that this past year you have made my life so rich with love and friendship.

I am so grateful to each one of you for that.

Here's to 28!! If it's half as good as 27...I'm a happy camper.

I think that what strikes me in all this turning 28 business is that it was 10 years ago today I turned 18.

Holy moly.

What a difference a decade makes.

Ugh. A decade. Yikes.

Anywho, it's just amazing to think about all the plans I had for my life at that time.

And how in just 10 short years (yes, in the grand scheme of life 10 years is just a blip on the radar...).....

Things are completely different than how I ever imagined life to be.

But in the best way possible.

It's funny how life works out that way, huh?

Oh to go back and tell that 18 year old girl the things I know now.

Haha.

Well, I don't know.

It's probably for the best she lived and learned all that she did.

She's all the better for it.

10 years from now I'll be 38.

And I pray that I have the same joy and contentment then as I do now.

Speaking of joy....

My joy this birthday weekend came from hanging out with the hubs and some dear friends....

Here's a pic recap:

Makeup look for festivities on Friday evening:

(I decided to be adventurous and wear a red lip for the evening.)

Foundation: Revlon Photoready Foundation in Natural Beige
Lips: L'OREAL Colour Riche Lip Color in #315 True Red
Eyes: L'OREAL Decrease Eye Primer
Cover Girl Line Exact Eye Liner in Very Black
elf Mineral Mascara
L'OREAL Volume Million Lashes Mascara

The hubs surprised me with dinner reservations at Acre. It was our first trip there, and it was really impressive.

Well the food was impressive. I wasn't sold on the decor. Or even the ambiance. But, the service was great. And the owner/head chef personally greeted us twice. Now that makes someone feel at home!

Dungeness Crab Cake to start out with....

I had the Berskshire Pork. Absolutely delicious!!!

The hubs had the pan roasted rib eye. So amazingly. Good.

Go try out Acre.

You won't be disappointed.

From there we headed over to Jim's Place to have a cocktail and a piece of coconut cake.

The coconut cake at Jim's is to die for

Go see the hubs one night....have a cocktail...and a piece of that cake.

You can thank me later.

Then it was off to Alchemy for cocktails with friends.

I won't elaborate on how the evening started out at Alchemy.

Let's just say this birthday girl wasn't happy because the party in front of us WOULD NOT LEAVE.

So, we waited over an hour longer for the party room we were promised.

I could blame a lot of people for this mishap. But, I will keep those thoughts to myself.

But we finally got the room we were promised. And we finally got to sit down. (No, there was not another place to sit. The place was slammed.)

So once I got to sit down and once I knew my friends could sit down...my blood pressure started coming down....and then all was well with the world again.

I still love Alchemy. I just hated how things didn't go as planned. But hey, that's life.

I definitely recommend the "Dancing Jimmy Spirit." So good. Citrus Vodka and muddled grapes. Yes sir ree.

With some of the best friends a gal could ask for!
Dress: Bisou Bisou JcPenney

The hubs and me. He looks spif.

Miss Robyn and me

These two are a hoot.

Things are starting to get a little crazy.

Two of the most beautiful people I know.

This was supposed to be a funny pic. I was the only one who got the memo.

Take 2 is not any better.

Finally!

Our best friends Josh and Robyn.

Watch out world. The next great bowling team has arrived!!!

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out. You made my birthday so special.

You know what else is special????

(Wait. Don't answer that.)

BOOMMMM!

The lovely Kindle that my sweet husband got me for my birthday.

Uh Oh.

Now I have to figure out how to use the darn thing.

Thank God for instructions.

Anywho, I am heading out of here in a little while to have dinner with my best friend Sarah and the hubs.

What a wonderful way to end a great birthday weekend.

Thank you to all who have sent me well wishes!

It means the world to this damn near 30 gal.

Much love, ;)

A Birthday Gift To Myself..........And.........A Favorite Recipe

Soooo...guess what I got myself for my birthday (which is Sunday btw)...

2 purses for less than what one normally runs...

"AWHA?!" you say...

I picked up two Kate Spade gems at Marshall's the other day!!!

I am so freaking stoked.

literally walked around for an hour contemplating...

"This goes against everything I believe in..."

(Spending that much money on a purse [or two] that is...)

"OMG...the hubs is going to KILL me...."

"I don't really need two purses...."

"But c'mon...TWO Kate Spade purses! For how much????"

"Okay, I'm just going to do it."

So, I took both of my purses to the counter.

And the sweet girl behind the counter reminded me how LUCKY I was to have come in that day because of the Kate Spade shipment.

And how AWESOME of a deal I was getting.

Hey, did this girl want to go grab a drink or something? I mean, she was really feeding my feel goodness about all this situation.

So after having immediate buyer's remorse (which the hubs can attest to the ridiculousness that is my buyer's remorse.."Wait, are you sure that pack of gum was a good idea??")

I text the hubs to let him know that he need not worry about buying me a birthday present.

As he had already purchased it (I mean, "them").

To this he replied, "I already have something else picked out for you. Don't worry about the purses. Really. You deserve to treat yourself every now and then."

I. love. this. man.

I can't even begin to tell you how much of a deal I got on these two gems.

I don't dare type out how much I actually paid, as I am still reeling from a case of buyer's remorse.

But hey, I recommend the Marshall's in Southhaven.

You never know what gems you'll find!!

This is the purse I'll be using sparingly...I consider it my dressy purse....

Still nervous to take off the plastic coating...

And here is my every day purse...

So cute.

Annnnddd...

So awesome.
Speaking of AWESOMENESS...
Weight Watchers Crock-Pot Lasagna is my new favorite recipe.

I literally could eat it every day.

Of course, that wouldn't really be that conducive to my WW plan.

However, I love that I can incorporate it into my plan.

It is so yum-o.

I will never cook lasagna any other way again.

The hubs is also in love with this recipe.

Hey, it's no Pete & Sam's lasagna.

But it's pretty amazing nonetheless.

Doesn't it look sooo good????

Of course, I tweak it a little. I add more garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the meat and sauce.

But you tweak it however you like.

Go make some!!!

No literally.

Go make some.

Today.

Enjoy!

Much love, ;)
